Tye Sheridan,
Lily Rabe,
"The Tender Bar"
Directed by George Clooney, and adapted from the memoir by writer J.R. Moehringer, the drama The Tender Bar stars Austin’s Tye Sheridan as a working-class Massachusetts teen struggling to find his place in the world. With his extended family’s help and support, Sheridan’s aspiring writer Jr overcomes his humble beginnings to attend a prestigious school to study literature. But Jr’s crippling imposter syndrome threatens to ruin his writing career even before it begins. The Tender Bar also stars Lily Rabe as Jr’s devoted mother Dorothy and Ben Affleck as Jr’s Uncle Charlie, a father figure who dispenses sage advice and invaluable life lessons with effortless charm from the behind he bar of the small-town pub he runs. The rest of the cast includes newcomer Daniel Ranieri as the preteen Jr, Max Martini as Jr’s absent, alcoholic father, and Christopher Lloyd as Jr’s grandfather. The Tender Bar opens Dec. 22 in theaters and premieres Jan. 7 on Amazon Prime Video. Austinite Tye Sheridan made an early impression as a teen actor with his performances in Terrence Malick’s Tree of Life, Jeff Nichol’s Mud, and David Gordon Green’s Joe. He has since starred in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One, Paul Schrader’s The Card Counter, and Rick Alverson’s Entertainment and The Mountain. The daughter of actress Jill Clayburgh and playwright David Rabe, Lily Rabe made her name on Broadway, portrayed Liz Cheney in Vice, and appeared in multiple seasons of American Horror Story.
