With the school year winding down, the Austin Film Festival is gearing up for a long, hot summer by offering film camps for students ages 9-12 and 13-18. The festival’s other summer events include an artist service roundtable on May 29 at Southern Heights Brewery, an Audience Award Series Screening of the documentary Mr. Fish: Cartooning from the Deep End on June 5 at the Alamo Drafthouse Village, the First Three Pages Live script sketch and podcast showcase on June 26 at Coldtowne Theatre, and Pitch Day on July 22, also at Coldtowne Theatre. In addition, season 8 of the Austin Film Festival’s On Story TV series, featuring filmmaker conversations from last year’s festival, is currently airing on KLRU-TV with the third edition of the On Story book series, “The Golden Ages of Television,” due to be published this October. Also, the Austin Film Festival will be held Oct. 25-Nov. 1, with Roger Corman and screenwriters Tony Gilroy and Daniel Petrie already announced as this year’s honorees. Finally, work continues on building the Austin Film Festival’s archives as part of The Wittliff Collections at Texas State University.
