Marking his third consecutive collaboration with Morgan Freeman, writer/director George Gallo’s crime thriller Vanquishfinds Freeman’s crooked police commissioner coercing Ruby Rose’s former drug courier into making five cash pickups from his criminal partners. Freeman holds Rose’s daughter hostage while Rose motorcycles from one dangerous pickup to the next. Vanquish opened April 16 at the Galaxy Theatres Austin and will be available for digital and on-demand viewing beginning April 20 and on Blu-Ray/DVD on April 27. George Gallo started his career as the screenwriter of the buddy comedies Wise Guys, Midnight Run, and Bad Boys (under the title Bulletproof Hearts). He transitioned to directing with 29th Street, Trapped in Paradise, Double Take, Local Color, My Mom’s New Boyfriend, Middle Men, Columbus Circle, and Bigger. Gallo previously directed Morgan Freeman in the 2019 thriller The Poison Rose, which costarred John Travolta, and in the upcoming comedy The Comeback Trail, which reunites Gallo with his Midnight Run star Robert De Niro.
