Interview:
Darren Le Gallo,
writer/director,
"Sam & Kate"
Written and directed by Darren Le Gallo, the intergenerational family dramedy Sam & Kate not only represents the first onscreen pairing of Dustin Hoffman and Sissy Spacek but features the Oscar winners cast as parents against their real-life children, Jake Hoffman and former Austinite Schuyler Fisk, respectively. Dustin Hoffman stars as the stubborn but charming veteran Bill, who pushes his son Sam (Jake Hoffman) to move forward with his life after a failed relationship and an inability to secure steady work as a cartoonist. Sissy Spacek stars as the lonely divorced Tina, whose hoarding disorder remains a cause of concern for her daughter, bookstore owner and onetime folk singer Kate (Schuyler Fisk). Kate receives a brief reprieve from her efforts to help Tina when she strikes up a friendship with Sam. While Kate takes things slow with Sam, Tina immediately welcomes interest from Bill. But life quickly gets in the way of the potential for romance. Written and directed by Darren Le Gallo, and executive produced by his wife Amy Adams, Sam & Kate premiered locally during this year’s Austin Film Festival and is available for digital and on-demand viewing beginning Friday, Nov. 18. Darren Le Gallo makes his directorial debut with Sam & Kate. Aired: Nov. 15, 2022. Web sites: https://www.vert-ent.com/ |
