Interview:
Bill Wise,
"Master Class"
The hilarious Austin-made web series Master Class offers a glimpse inside the “Tom Perkins Acting Intensive," a course offered by an egotistic, mentally unstable acting coach (Bill Wise of Austin High, Boyhood, Lazer Team, and Krisha fame). Among Perkins’ frustrated students: Carson Poyce (Peyton Freiman), who enrolls in the acting class as a form of fear therapy. The 10-episode series follows Carson and his fellow students as they learn almost next to nothing from Perkins about crying on cue, mastering regional dialects, and preparing for onscreen love scenes. Master Class is the brainchild of writer/director Justin Wright Neufeld, who previously worked with Wise on the RenFair-set sitcom Disenchanted. The first three episodes of Master Class will screen 2:45 p.m. Nov. 1 at Alamo Drafthouse Village during the Austin Film Festival. All 10 episodes of Master Class will screen 9 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Alamo South Lamar. Writer/director Justin Wright Neufeld joins Bill Wise during this interview.
