Interview:
M.J. Bassett,
co-writer/director,
"Endangered Species"
With the South Africa-shot Rogue, director M.J. Bassett pit her actress-writing partner daughter Isabel Bassett (as well as Megan Fox) against a lioness in search of her cubs. Now the Bassetts re-team on the companion survival thriller Endangered Species, which boasts an equally strong conservation message. In Endangered Species, Isabel Bassett stars with Rebecca Romijn and Rogue's Philip Winchester as members of an American family battling hyenas, poachers, and the elements while stranded on safari in Kenya. Romijn's real-life husband Jerry O’Connell costars as the mysterious American who stumbles upon the family in the wilderness. Endangered Species, which is now available for digital and on-demand viewing, debuts June 1 on Blu-Ray and DVD. M.J. Bassett previously directed Rogue, Inside Man: Most Wanted, Silent Hill: Revelation, Solomon Kane, Wilderness, and Deathwatch. She also directed episodes of Power, Altered Carbon, Ash vs Evil Dead, and Strike Back. Aired: May 27, 2021. Web sites: https://www.lionsgate.com/movies/endangered-species |
