Interview:
Jackie Myers,
composer,
"Silent Films Out Loud"
The comedy antics of silent film icon Buster Keaton is no laughing matter for Austin singer-songwriter, musician and composer Jackie Myers. She and three other local musicians—guitarist Dave Biller, pedal steel guitarist Bob Hoffnar and composer Justin Sherburn of Okkervil River and Montopolis—have joined forces for “Silent Films Out Loud,” a musical performance and screening that features live original scores for four silent shorts by actor/director Buster Keaton. A full orchestra will perform each live original score for 1920’s One Week by Dave Biller, 1920’s The Scarecrow by Justin Sherburn, 1922’s My Wife’s Relations by Bob Hoffnar, and 1922’s Cops by Jackie Myers. “Silent Films Out Loud” will be held 8 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Stateside at the Paramount. The Jackie Myers Band singer/pianist also performs with The Lonesome Heroes and Strahan & the Good Neighbors.
