Interview:
Angela Robinson,
writer/director,
"Professor Marston and the Wonder Women"
![]() Most of us know Wonder Woman’s origin. But few know the origin of the Wonder Woman comic book. Writer/director Angela Robinson’s Professor Marston & the Wonder Women examines the inspiration behind psychologist William Moulton Marston’s 1941 feminist superhero creation. The biopic recounts the polyamorous relationship between Marston, his wife Elizabeth Holloway Marston, also a psychologist, and his research assistant Olive Byrne and chronicles how the two loves of Marston’s life served as the basis for Wonder Woman. Marston also developed an early version of the lie detector test. Professor Marston & the Wonder Women stars Luke Evans as William Moulton Marston, Rebecca Hall as Elizabeth Holloway Marston, and Bella Heathcote as Olive Byrne. Professor Marston & the Wonder Women premiered locally during this year’s Fantastic Fest and opened Oct. 12 in Austin. Angela Robinson previously directed the films D.E.B.S. and Herbie: Fully Loaded as well as episodes of Hung, The L Word, and True Blood.
