Interview:
Sean Mullin,
writer/director,
"Amira & Sam"
Writer/director Sean Mullin’s New York-set post-911 drama Amira & Sam focuses on the burgeoning romance between Dina Shihabi’s Iraqi immigrant Amira and Martin Starr’s U.S. veteran Sam. When Amira runs afoul of the law, Sam promises her uncle that he will keep her safe until he can return to New York to resolve the situation. While Sam and Amira grow closer in the ensuing days, both discover that some New Yorkers view Amira with suspicion because she’s from Iraq. Amira & Sam marks the directorial debut of Sean Mullin, who went to West Point and, as an officer with the New York Army National Guard, was a first responder on 9/11. Amira & Sam, which screened locally at last year’s Forever Fest, opened Jan. 30 and is available for digital downloading and VOD viewing.
