Indie Meme Film Festival
The Indie Meme Film Festival runs April 20-23 at the Regal Cinemas Arbor 8 at Great Hills. Devoted to South Asian independent cinema, the festival unofficially opens April 20 with a members-only screening anthology feature Shor se Shuruat (An Anthology) and officially opens April 21 with the documentary An Insignificant Man. The festival continues with the documentary The Cinema Travellers and the narrative features Parting, Chronicles of Hari, Phobia, White Sun, Hotel Salvation, and Lipstick Under My Burka. Programming director Sai Pramod Mohan’s short film The New Machine will screen 1:45 p.m. April 22 before The Cinema Travellers. The New Machine finds a convenience store clerk (Peggy Schott) struggling to master a high-tech cash register. Festival co-director Alka Bhanot joins programming director Sai Pramod Mohan during this interview.
