Interview:
Carleton Ranney,
writer/director,
"Jackrabbit"
In writer/director Carleton Ranney’s sci-fi cautionary tale Jackrabbit, the world is still adjusting to life 25 years after “The Reset,” an event that has left survivors trapped within the confines of City Six and reliant upon analog technology. Their every move is recorded and analyzed by a mysterious corporation known as Vopo Technologies. One Vopo video surveillance employer, Simon (Josh Caras), becomes so curious about what lies beyond the boundaries of City Six that he teams up with a hacker, Max (Ian Christopher Noel), to unearth what the government doesn’t want the public to know by using a computer drive that belonged to a mutual friend. Jackrabbit represents the feature film directorial debut of Austin native Carleton Ranney. He previously directed the short film Slasher. Jackrabbit will screen 2:45 p.m. Dec. 5 during the Other World Austin SciFi Film Festival.
