Interview:
Osgood Perkins,
writer/director,
"Longlegs"
A homage to The Silence of the Lambs, writer/director Osgood Perkins’ 1990s-set chiller Longlegs pits Maika Monroe’s FBI Agent Lee Harker against the eponymous serial killer played by Nicolas Cage. For almost 20 years, Longlegs has terrorized families in Oregon. Each occult-themed murder, unified by a common date on the calendar, involves a father slaughtering his wife and his children. The FBI remains baffled by Longleg’s modus operandi. But as Harker’s investigation leads her closer to the elusive serial killer, she realizes her psychic abilities and personal connection to the case may give her the advantages she needs to track down her quarry before he kills again. Longlegs also stars Alicia Witt as Harker’s overly protective mother Ruth and Blair Underwood as Harker’s boss Agent Carter. Longlegs is now in theaters. The son of actor Anthony Perkins and model/photographer Berry Berenson, Osgood Perkins began his career as an actor, appearing in Six Degrees of Separation, Legally Blonde, and Secretary. He transitioned to writing with Removal and Cold Comes the Night before making his directorial debut with The Blackcoat’s Daughter, which screened at during the 2015 SXSW Film Festival under the title February. He followed up The Blackcoat’s Daughter with the Netflix chiller I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House and Gretel & Hansel. He recently completed shooting two films: The Monkey, a black comedy based on the 1980 short story by Stephen King, and the thriller The Keeper. Both films will star Tatiana Maslany.
