"Funniest"
Will the funniest person in Austin please stand and take the stage? Directed by Dustin Svehlak and Katie Pengra, the documentary Funniest takes a behind-the-scenes look at last year’s "Funniest Person in Austin" contest, which has been held for more than 30 years by the Capitol City Comedy Club. The documentary follows the efforts of six Austin comedians—Avery Moore, Norman Wilkerson, Danny Palumbo, Lashonda Lester, Montgomery Wayne and Carina Magyar (then performing under the name Maggie Criss)—who want to claim the title. Funniest will screen 7:10 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Rollins Theatre and 9:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the State Theatre during the Austin Film Festival. Dustin Svehlak join Katie Pengra during this interview. She is an Austin stand-up comic and former "Funniest Person in Austin" contestant who co-stars in the upcoming comedy The Trolls.
