Interview:
Karen Skloss,
writer/director,
"The Honor Farm"
Prom night and the loss of innocence go hand in hand in The Honor Farm, a trippy coming-of-age parable from Austin-based writer/director Karen Skloss. Abandoned by their prom dates, best friends Lucy and Annie join some of the misfit kids from their high school on a tour of the Honor Farm, a derelict building that once served as a Texas correctional work farm. What Lucy and Annie encounter inside the Honor Farm goes beyond their wildest imagination. Krisha’s Olivia Grace Applegate stars as Lucy, Grow Up Tony Phillips’ Kate Katie Folger stars as Annie, and Everybody Wants Some!!’s Dora Madison stars as Laila, one of the girls who entices Lucy and Annie who join them on a trip of a lifetime. The Honor Farm represents the narrative debut of the Austin-based Karen Skloss, the director of the documentary. She also is a film editor as well as a drummer of the local band Moving Panoramas. The Honor Farm will screen during the SXSW Film Festival at 11:55 p.m. March 11 at the Stateside Theatre, 11:45 p.m. March 13 at the Alamo South Lamar, 9:45 p.m. March 14 at the Alamo South, and 12:15 p.m. March 16 at the Alamo South Lamar.
