Interview:
Peter Simonite,
cinematographer,
"The Perfect Guy"
A veteran of many Texas-made films, Peter Simonite has gone Hollywood—in a good way—as the cinematographer of the box office hit The Perfect Guy. Directed by A Single Shot’s David M. Rosenthal, the Fatal Attraction-influenced thriller stars Sanaa Lathan as a woman who thinks she's fallen for "the one." Only Michael Ealy’s "perfect guy" is a sociopath intent on keeping Lathan in his possession by any mean necessary. The psychosexual thriller also stars Morris Chestnut. Simonite, who still resides in Austin, worked in various capacities on such locally shot films as A Scanner Darkly, Idiocracy, and Terrence Malick's Tree of Life and To the Wonder. He also directed the music video for Explosions in the Sky's Postcards from 1952. He also serves as the cinematographer of the upcoming Tuscany-set romantic thriller Voice from the Stone, starring Emilia Clarke, and provides additional cinematography for Terrence Malick’s upcoming untitled film with Christian Bale and Michael Fassbender.
