Interview:
Matt Patterson,
director,
"Apartment 413"
Nothing is what it seems in Apartment 413, director Matt Patterson’s Austin-shot psychological thriller about a man driven to the brink of insanity. Married couple Marco and the pregnant Dana live in an apartment that was once the scene of a domestic homicide. The unemployed Marco quickly becomes distracted from his job search when he begins to suspect that his landlord is messing with his mind. The increasingly paranoid Marco also has trouble distinguishing the real from the imagined, to the point that Dana becomes concerned about Marco’s well-being. Nicholas Saenz plays Marco and Brea Grant of Friday Night Lights, Dexter, and Rob Zombie’s Halloween II plays Dana. Ron Maede wrote Apartment 413, which will screen 9:45 p.m. Oct. 25 at the St. David's Episcopal Church, Bethell Hall, and 10 p.m. Oct. 29 at the State Theatre during this year’s Austin Film Festival. Apartment 413 marks the directorial debut of the Austin-based Matt Patterson, who previously wrote An Ordinary Family and Dragon Day and produced Bindlestiffs.
