Interview:
Hannah Fidell,
writer/director,
"6 Years"
Writer/director Hannah Fidell's Austin-shot drama 6 Years examines the rocky relationship between Taissa Farmiga’s Melanie and Ben Rosenfield’s Dan, a couple in their early twenties who must contemplate how best to continue their six-year relationship. When things take an unexpected turn for the worse, Melanie begins to have her doubts about Dan and Dan considers a job opportunity that would require them to leave Austin. The cast also includes If I Stay’s Joshua Leonard and Linsday Burge, who starred in Hannah Fidell’s previous film, the Austin-shot A Teacher. Fidell is currently developing a TV series based on A Teacher for HBO and will shoot some scenes for her next film, about a road trip, in Austin this fall. 6 Years, which premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival, opened Aug. 21 in Austin. It also is available on iTunes in advance of its Sept. 8 Netflix premiere.
