Interview:
John Valley,
writer/director/costar,
"The Pizzagate Massacre"
Austin-based writer/director John Valley’s darkly humorous thriller The Pizzagate Massacre takes its cue from the debunked conspiracy theory that connected such Democrats as Hilary Clinton to a human trafficking and child sex ring run out of various businesses, including the Comet Ping Pong pizzeria in Washington, D.C. Austin’s very own East Side Pies was even targeted for harassment. In The Pizzagate Massacre, the Alex Jones-inspired, Waco-based alt-right media personality Terri Lee (Lee Eddy) repeats a conspiracy theory on her show that such an operation is being run out of the basement of Tootz Pizza in Austin. Worse, that the ring is connected to shape-shifting, blood-consuming lizard. This prompts Lee’s former intern Karen Black (Alexandria Payne) to travel to Austin to uncover the truth in a bid to name for herself as a journalist. Fearful of what she might find in the basement of Tootz Pizza, Karen recruits Waco militia member Duncan Plump (Tinus Seaux) as protection. While the overly caution Duncan does not necessarily believe the conspiracy theory, he feels compelled to accompany Karen to ensure no harm comes to her. In hot pursuit is Duncan’s militia rival Phillip (John Valley), who has other plans for Tootz Pizza. The Pizzagate Massacre is available Nov. 19 for digital and on-demand viewing. The Pizzagate Massacre represents Austin-based music video director John Valley’s first feature film since 2009’sDiary of a Superhero.
