"They Live Here, Now"
Directed by Jason Outenreath, the SXSW Film Festival entry They Live Here, Now takes us inside Casa Marianella, a refuge house in Austin that provides shelter and/or services for undocumented immigrants and asylum seeker. The hybrid documentary features Casa Marianella’s temporary residents discussing the circumstances that brought them to the United States and their future hopes in a country that they hope to permanently call their home. They Live Here, Now also features a composite character, the 16-year-old Mexican girl Nayeli, as a Casa Marianella case example. Actress Regina Casillas plays Nayeli. They Live Here will screen during the SXSW Film Festival at 4:30 p.m. March 11 at the Alamo South Alamo, 5:45 p.m. March 12 at the AFS Cinema; and 1:30 p.m. March 14 at the Rollins Theatre at The Long Center. A former Austinite who now lives in San Francisco, Jason Outenreath previously directed the documentary feature Country Kids and served as the executive director of the CineAid Festival.
