Interview:
Chris Todd,
writer/director,
"The End of Decay"
![]() Where would you draw the line in the desperate bid to cure the incurable? This is the ethical question at the heart of The End of Decay, a body-horror short film directed by the Austin-based director Chris Todd and written by Todd and Patrick Palmer that originated as a script for a feature film. Brian Villalobos stars as Orin, a scientist whose medical experiments are driven by his desire to regain the use of his legs. Orin’s willingness to go to extremes concerns his assistant, Ben, who is played by Boyhood’s Ellar Coltrane. But nothing can stop Orin from his plan to conduct an experiment that may endanger his life. The End of Decay will screen 11:55 p.m. Sept. 22 and 5:45 p.m. Sept. 27 before the feature film Applecart during Fantastic Fest at the Alamo South Lamar. Chris Todd previously directed the short films Bon Appetit and Target: Audience.
