"Love & Air Sex"
In director Bryan Poyser’s Austin-set anti-romcom Love & Air Sex, Sara Paxton plays Kara, who finds herself torn between her best friend Cathy and her ex-boyfriend Stan. When filmmaker Stan (Michael Stahl-David) learns that New York-based med student Cathy (Ashley Bell) is going to visit her friends in Austin, he hops on the next plane out of L.A. to return home with the intention of mending his broken heart one way or another. Kara doesn’t want Cathy to get hurt again, so she spends the weekend trying to keep Stan away from Cathy. Kara, though, is also experiencing some heartache. She recently split up with Jeff (Zach Cregger). She’s dismayed to learn that Jeff has made to the Air Sex Championships with a performance inspired by their bedroom antics. So Kara plots her revenge against Jeff. Love & Air Sex screened at last year’s SXSW Film Festival under the title The Bounceback. The new title refers to the subplot that revolves around the Air Sex World Championship, which enjoyed its launch in Austin and now tours the country. Love & Air Sex is now available for home viewing via VOD and will open Feb. 14 in Austin. Paxton, costar Zach Cregger, and director Bryan Poyser will attend the Austin premiere at 8 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Alamo Slaughter Lane, and immediately following the screening Paxton and Cregger will guest judge an air sex contest that will begin at 10:35 p.m. In addition to Love & Air Sex, Paxton can be seen in the Drafthouse Films release Cheap Thrills. In this dark comedy, Paxton's Violet and David Koechner’s Colin offer an increasingly large amount of money to two down-on-their-luck working stiffs to perform a series of stunts that range from the rude and outrageous to the illegal. Cheap Thrills will be available for home viewing via VOD beginning Feb. 21 and will open theatrically in Austin on March 21. Paxton’s other credits include the remake of The Last House on the Left, Ti West’s The Innkeepers, Shark Night 3D, and the family film Aquamarine.
