"The Send-Off"
Directed by Ivete Lucas and her husband Patrick Bresnan, the SXSW Film Festival short documentary The Send-Off offers a fly-on-the-wall look at how high school student in the poor, predominantly African-American town of Pahokee in Florida's Palm Beach County prepare for and enjoy prom night. The Send-Off will screen as part of the SXSW Film Festival’s Texas Shorts Competition program at 10:15 p.m. March 11 at the Vimeo Theater, 2 p.m. March 14 at the Rollins Theatre at the Long Center, and 2 p.m. March 17 at the Topfer Theatre at ZACH. The Send-Off previously screened during this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Ivete Lucas and Patrick Bresnan are currently in post-production on their feature documentary, One Big Misunderstanding, about Vietnam War reenactors.
