Interview:
Jenny Waldo,
writer/director,
"Acid Test"
Set during the weeks before the 1992 U.S. presidential election, writer/director Jenny Waldo's semi-autobiographical teen drama Acid Test examines the emotional and psychological duress a Houston high school senior endures as her father pushes her to apply to Harvard. Desperately seeking relief from the pressure placed on her by her father, Jenny (Juliana Destefano) seeks solace in the music and the politics of the emerging Riot grrrl movement. Then Jenny is confronted with the choice to drop acid for the first time. Acid Test will screen during the Austin Film Festival at 1:15 p.m. Oct. 24 and 12 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Galaxy Theatres Austin. The Houston-based Jenny Waldo makes her feature directorial debut with Acid Test, an expansion of her 2017 short film. Posted: Oct. 23, 2021.
