Interview:
David Ellison,
producer,
"Life"
Produced by Skydance Media CEO David Ellison, the sci-fi chiller Life pits the crew of an international space station against a malevolent extraterrestrial organism that poses a significant threat to Earth. The cast includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds and Rebecca Ferguson, who received her breakthrough role in Mission Impossible—Rogue Nation, which counted David Ellison among its executive producers. Life is directed by Daniel Espinosa, who previously directed Ryan Reynolds’ Safe House. Life closed this year’s SXSW Film Festival and is now in theaters. The brother of American Hustle and Foxcatcher producer Megan Ellison, David Ellison has been involved in some of the biggest hits in recent years, including True Grit, Jack Reacher, Star Trek Into Darkness and World War Z. He also produced the domestic box office disappointment Terminator Genisys. He is the producer of the upcoming thriller The Hitman's Bodyguard, the disaster action film Geostorm, and next year’s untitled Mission Impossible IV. David Ellison spoke to Lights Camera Austin before the SXSW Film Festival premiere of Life.
