Interview:
Julia Barnett,
writer/director,
"Chasing Grace"
Shifting back and forth between the 1970s and 1980s, the Austin- and Dripping Springs-shot short drama Chasing Grace recalls a parental kidnapping from the perspective of the victim at age 6 (Lydia Tracy, daughter of writer/director Julia Barnett) and a decade later as a young adult (Jolie Vanier). Christopher Backus plays the father Mel, who steals Grace away from his ex-wife Susan (Barnett). Chasing Grace premiered during this year’s SXSW Film Festival and will screen 4:30 p.m. April 28 during the Hill Country Film Festival in Fredericksburg. Chasing Grace represents the directorial debut of actress Julia Barnett, who played Heidi Bell in several episodes of Nashville. Barnett's friend and Nashville star Connie Britton serves as an executive producer of Chasing Grace.
