Tarantino: The Hateful Great
Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight did not receive much Oscar love but do you think the Alamo Drafthouse cares? This month the Drafthouse celebrates the director’s work with Tarantino: The Hateful Great, a program that includes screenings of Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Death Proof, Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained and True Romance as well as a Kill Bill double bill feast. The Hateful Eight is still currently playing in 70mm at the Alamo Ritz. The Drafthouse also will pay tribute to the late David Bowie with its David Bowie Music Video Party, featuring a live performance by Bowie cover band Super Creeps, at 8 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Austin Music Hall. In February, the Drafthouse will screen The Man Who Fell to Earth, Christiane F., The Hunger, Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, and Velvet Goldmine as part of its God and Man: A David Bowie Tribute program. Also upcoming: programs devoted to director Guy Maddin and Studio Ghibli.
