Cine Las Americas International Film Festival
The hybrid 23rd annual Cine Las Americas International Film Festival, which runs June 9-13, combines virtual programming with select in-person events. Devoted to films made by and/or about Latinos or Indigenous peoples of the Americas, the festival opens June 9 with an in-person screening of the documentary Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go For It. The virtual programming includes narrative and documentary showcases and competition programs, youth filmmaker shorts, music videos, and panels and Q&As. The Hecho en Tejas competition program focuses on features and shorts made by Texas filmmakers, including Austin-based director Alex Avila’s dramedy Vecinos: Love Thy Neighbor. Aired: June 3, 2021.
