Interview:
Andrew Disney
and Bradley Jackson,
"Crunch Time" creators
Created by Balls Out director Andrew Disney (left) and writer/producer Bradley Jackson (right), the Austin-based Rooster Teeth web series Crunch Time takes a comic look at the science and commercial exploitation of a new technology that allows the manipulation of a paying customer’s lucid dreams. Some want pleasure; others want to confront their deepest, darkest fears. Regardless, it all comes down to sex, money and power for the team responsible for the “Brain Frame.” But when things go wrong, they attract the government’s unwanted attention. Crunch Time’s cast is led by Samm Levine, Avery Monson, Jessy Hodges, Nicholas Rutherford and Kirk C. Johnson, and features supporting turns by Rooster Teeth’s Bernie Burns, Krisha’s Bill Wise, and True Detective’s Michael Hyatt. The sixth and final episode of Crunch Time’s first season will premiere Sunday, Oct. 16. Episodes 1 and 2 will screen 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at the Galaxy Highland 8 during the Austin Film Festival. Episode 3-6 will screen 4:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Paramount Theatre during the Austin Film Festival. Andrew Disney and Bradley Jackson also will participate in the roundtable discussion “New Media & Digital Storytelling” at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at St. David’s Episcopal Church, Crail Hall, during the Austin Film Festival. Andrew Disney previously directed Searching for Sonny; former Austinite Bradley Jackson wrote the documentary Lord Montagu and the upcoming Dealt about blind magician Richard Turner.
