Lead Film Programmer Lars Nilsen previews the Austin Film Society November 2017 programming at the AFS Cinema. The Austin Film Society will paid tribute to native son Tobe Hooper with a screening of his trippy 1969 drama Eggshells. Series include "Modern Masters," "UCLA Festival of Preservation, "Essential Cinema: Patricia Highsmith," and Richard Linklater's 1980s-themed "Jewels in the Wasteland. The series devoted Catherine Deneuve, which began in October 2017, will conclude with two seasonal offerings. New films includes the documentaries The Challenge, True Conviction and The Workers Cup and Richard Linklater's Last Flag Flying.
There will be retrospective screenings of Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind, The Sacrifice, The Strange Case off Dr. Jekyll & Miss Osbourne, and The World of Henry Orient.
