Interview:
Derek Sieg,
writer/director,
"Hot Air"
Getting away with faking your own death is not as easy as it seems in the Austin-shot comedy Hot Air. Especially when you bump into the son you never knew you had at your "funeral." Written and directed by Derek Sieg, Hot Air stars Jere Burns as Major, the on-the-run crooked attorney who crosses paths with his son Lesley (Criminal Minds' Matthew Gray Gubler). Major passes himself off as a friend of the deceased in order to get to know Lesley without planning to reveal who he really is. Each day Major stays in Austin, though, is another day that allows the FBI to investigate his "death" and track his whereabouts. Hot Air will screen 7 p.m. March 28 at the Violet Crown Cinema as part of the Austin Film Festival’s Jury Award Series. Derek Sieg previously directed the 2006 drama Swedish Auto.
