![]() The inaugural Contrast Film Festival will be held July 20-22 at various venues, including the AFS Cinema and the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz. With a focus on women and queer artists, the Contrast Film Festival’s lineup includes the narrative features High Fantasy, Shakedown and The Misandrists, the performance film Narcissister Organ Player, and a program curated by director Anne Biller that includes three of her short films and a retrospective screening of Michael Curtiz’s 1933 Pre-Code drama Female. There also will be stand-up performances by comedians Casey Jane Ellison and Daniel Rugg Web. Contrast Film Festival founders and programmers Tish Sparks and Jeremy von Stilb also program the Homo Arigato series at the Austin Film Society's AFS Cinema.
