In writer/director Bob Byington’s Austin-shot comedy 7 Chinese Brothers, Jason Schwartzman’s thirtysomething Larry must wrestle with the workplace drama that accompanies his new job at Quick Lube while dealing with the fallout from leaving his old job at a chain restaurant. Produced by Seana Flanagan, 7 Chinese Brothers also stars Olympia Dukakis as Larry’s grandmother, TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe as Larry’s only friend, and Stephen Root as a family attorney. Schwartzman’s French bulldog Arrow also plays a pivotal role in 7 Chinese Brothers as Larry’s loyal companion. Byington previously directed RSO [Registered Sex Offender], Harmony & Me, and Somebody Up There Likes Me. 7 Chinese Brothers will screen during the SXSW Film Festival at 1:45 p.m. March 15 at the Topfer Theatre at ZACH, 4 p.m. March 17 at the Stateside Theatre, and 9:30 p.m. March 18 at the Alamo Ritz. 7 Chinese Brothers writer/director Bob Byington joins producer Seana Flanagan during this interview.
