Doc Days 2023
Featuring 10 nonfiction films, as well as a package of shorts highlighting the work of Texas-based women directors, the Austin Film Society’s fourth Doc Days runs May 25-28 at the AFS Cinema. Doc Days 2023 opens May 25 with The Eternal Memory and closes May 28 with Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project. Austin is represented by Patrick Brennan and Ivette Lucas’ Naked Garden. The Colour of Ink, Hummingbirds, Milisuthando, A Story of Bones, Subject, The Tuba Thieves, and Werner Herzog’s Theatre of Thought round out the rest of the nonfiction features. The Texas Shorts package comprised of two documentaries by Austin-based directors—Amy Grappell’s Kinderland and Jessie Auritt and Jessica Wolfson’s The Paint Wizzard—as well as Alejandra Aragon’s Disrupted Borders , Cristin Stephens' Men Who Talk, and former Austinite Heather Courtney’s For the Record,
