![]() With a focus on new independent cinema, especially Texas-made features and shorts, the Lost River Film Fest runs Oct. 20-23 in San Marcos, Oct. 29 in Lockhart, and Oct. 30 in Seguin. The festival opens Oct. 20 with a retrospective screening of Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some!!, which was partially shot in the festival’s hometown of San Marcos. The festival, which also places a special emphasis on films that address social justice and the immigrant experience, will close with Weldon Angelos & His Unlikely Allies, a work-in-progress documentary about the war on drugs. Other documentaries include The Land of Ahimsa, Ricochet, To the End, and You’ve Succeeded: The Life & Times of Dimas Garza. Features include Last Radio Call, Lucky Doug, Sunny, and Texas AF. The Oct. 29 Lockhart best-of-the-fest satellite program at the Gaslight Baker Theater, dubbed the Endora Film Fest after the locally shot What's Eating Gilbert Grape, also includes the documentary Werapara. The Oct. 30 Seguin best-of-the-fest satellite program at the Palace Theater also includes the documentary Seadrift. The festival lineup in San Marcos, Lockhart, and Seguin also includes short film packages.
