Interview:
Dom Cutrupi,
writer/director,
"Residents of Arcadia"
Selected this year’s hybrid Other Worlds Film Festival closing night film, writer/director Dom Cutrupi’s virtual reality drama Residents of Arcadia offers a personal glimpse of the immigrant experience through the eyes of a married couple struggling to find their place in their adopted homeland. Remo (Nick Preston) and Mira (Ishaval Gill)—the former from Italy, the latter from India—temporarily reside in a virtual reality version of Canada in order to learn the country’s customs and traditions and to establish their credentials as social media influencers and Internet entrepreneurs. When they are booted out of Arcadia for reasons unknown, Remo and Mira must act quickly if they want to remain in Canada. Residents of Arcadia is available to watch online at Eventive through Dec. 12 during this year’s hybrid Other Worlds Film Festival. The Italian-born author Dom Cutrupi, who now lives in Canada, previously directed the documentary Vulnerability and cowrote First House on the Hill.
