Interview:
Noah Segan,
"M.I.S.T.E.R." segment director,
"Scare Package"
Produced by the Austin-based Aaron B. Koontz and Cameron Burns, the 1980s-informed horror-comedy anthology Scare Package provides Knives Out’s Noah Segan with the perfect opportunity to make his directorial debut with M.I.S.T.E.R., a segment that combines social commentary with plenty of blood and gore. Segan stars as a new father whose wife questions whether he is contributing as much at home as he should. His insecurities lead him to a meeting of a men’s rights group. And that’s when things turn hairy. Very hairy. Scare Package, which premiered locally during last year’s Other Worlds Film Festival, is now available to stream at Shudder. Noah Segan is just as well-known for his genre work (Deadgirl, Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever, Starry Eyes, Tales of Halloween, The Mind’s Eye, Mohawk, Owen Egerton’s Austin-shotFollow) as he is for his collaborations with his close friend, director Rian Johnson (Brick,The Brothers Bloom, Looper, The Last Jedi, and Knives Out). Noah Segan first worked with Scare Package producer and segment director Aaron B. Koontz on the Austin-shot Camera Obscura and will also appear in Koontz’s upcoming supernatural western The Pale Door.
