Interview:
Chris McInroy,
writer/director,
"We Forgot About the Zombies"
Would you forget about the zombies chasing you? Probably not. And neither should Mike and Damon in the SXSW Film & TV Festival horror comedy short We Forgot About the Zombies by Austin-based writer/director Chris McInroy. Mike and Damon hide in a barn to avoid being eaten by the undead. But this is no ordinary barn. It is an abandoned lab, and Mike—nursing a zombie bite—believes the syringes he finds in the lab contain the antidote to the zombie infection. So he starts injecting himself, consequences be damned. Kyle Irion plays Mike and Carlos Larotta plays Damon. We Forgot About the Zombies will screen at 9:45 p.m. March 13 and 9 p.m. March 16 at the Alamo South Lamar as part of the SXSW Film & TV Festival’s Midnight Shorts Program. Austin-based writer/director Chris McInroy previously directed the Scare Package segment “One Time in the Woods” as well as the shorts Guts, We Summoned a Demon, Death Metal, and Bad Guy # 2. Guts is currently a 2023 FANGORIA Chainsaw Award nominee for Best Short, with public voting open through Feb. 27.
