"Ping Pong Summer"
Writer/director Michael Tully's coming-of-age comedy Ping Pong Summer stars Marcello Conte as Rad Miracle, a shy and slightly awkward teen who in 1985 embarks on a journey of self-discovery during a family vacation to the tourist resort of Ocean City, MD. Targeted by local bullies, Rad employs his love of ping pong and hip hop in an effort to defend his honor, maintain new friendships, and impress the girl who may or may not be his first love. Ping Pong Summer also stars Back to the Future's Lea Thompson and The Mummy's John Hannah as Rad's parents, and Susan Sarandon as a neighbor with much wisdom to impart to Rad. Ping Pong Summer is the Austin-based Michael Tully's follow-up to 2011's Septien and 2006'sCocaine Angel. Ping Pong Summer will screen during the SXSW Film Festival at 4:30 p.m. March 15 at the Marchesa Hall & Theatre.
