The first original project by the Austin-based Powerhouse Animation Studios, the anime series Seis Manos debuted Oct. 3 on Netflix. Set in 1970 in the fictional Mexico town of San Simon, the supernatural thriller Seis Manos follows the efforts of three orphans—Isabella, Jesus, and the non-verbal Silencio—to bring to justice the drug lord responsible for the murder of their Chinese martial arts mentor. Voiced by Danny Trejo, El Balde employs the dark ages in his bid to expand his criminal empire. Also on El Balde’s trail: San Simon Police Officer Garcia and DEA Agent Brister. The voice cast includes Aislinn Derbez as Isabela, Jonny Cruz as Jesus, Angélica Vale as Garcia, and Luke Cage’s Mike Colter as Brister. Founded by Brad Graeber and Bruce Tinnin, Powerhouse Animation Studios also animates the Netflix series Castlevania, which officially has been renewed for a third season. Powerhouse Animation Studios also is working on two new Netflix’s animated series, 2020’s Gods & Heroes and the Kevin Smith-created Masters of the Universe: Revelation. Other series animated by Powerhouse Animation Studios include Cartoon Network’s OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes and Nickelodeon’s The Adventures of Kid Danger. Brad Grabber created Seis Manos with Álvaro Rodríguez, the screenwriter of Machete and Last Rampage: The Escape of Gary Tison and a staff writer on El Rey Network's From Dusk Till Dawn TV series. Seis Manos' eight-episode Season 1 is now streaming at Neflix.
