Interview:
Jenny Nulf,
programmer,
Indie Sleaze Series
Inspired by the cable TV show Euphoria, the Indie Sleaze series at the Alamo South Lamar presents four films that not only share a similar style, audacity, and self-awareness as the Zendaya HBO teen drama but feeds into the eponymous trend that revives the fashion and attitude of the late aughts to early 2010s. The Indie Sleaze series kicks off May 6 and May 9 with Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette and continues May 13 and May 16 with Wong Kar-wai’s Fallen Angels, May 20 and May 23 with Mike Nichol’s Closer, and May 27 and May 30 with Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers. Indie Sleaze programmer Jenny Nulf also serves as the programming director of the Austin Asian American Film Festival, which will be held in-person June 23-26. Aired: May 5, 2022.
