Interview:
RJ LaForce,
Alamo Drafthouse programmer,
Alamo 100 and Caged
The Alamo Drafthouse ushers in the New Year with the Alamo 100, a series of films that represents the combined favorite movies of six programmers, including co-founder and CEO Tim League. The list ranges from the obvious--Casablanca, City Lights, Duck Soup, The Godfather 1 and 2, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest—to those that are bound to spark debate, such as 10 Things I Hate About You, Joe Vs. The Volcano, Tommy Boy, and Step Up 2 The Streets. The Alamo Drafthouse kicks off its Alamo 100 essential movies series at 7 p.m. Jan. 2 with the Monty Python and The Holy Grail Quote-Along at the Alamo Ritz and Raiders of the Lost Ark at 3:05 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. Jan. 3 and 2:30 p.m. Jan. 4 at the Alamo Ritz and 4 p.m. Jan. 4 at the Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline. In addition, the Alamo Drafthouse and the Tough Guy Cinema series will celebrate Nicolas Cage’s 50th birthday with Caged, a marathon of five films starring the Oscar-winning actor. Caged will be held 2 p.m. Jan. 5 at the Alamo Ritz. Programmer/video editor Greg MacLennan joins programmer/creative manager RJ LaForce during this interview.
