Based on her stage adaptation on the Henry Lawson short story, star/writer/director Leah Purcell's The Drover's Wife (Legend of Molly Johnson) finds a married bush woman unexpectedly taking in an Aboriginal man while her husband is on a six-month drive. As she finds herself drawn closer to Yadaka (Rob Collins), Molly (Purcell) is forced to confront her own past and take stock of her current circumstances. Leah Purcell currently stars in the Australian TV series Wentworth. She also has appeared in the films Somersault, The Proposition, Jindabyne, and Last Cab to Darwin. The Drover's Wife (Legend of Molly Johnson) premieres 2 p.m. central March 18 during SXSW Online, which runs through March 20. Aired: March 18, 2021.
