In writer/director Craig Elrod’s dramedy Mustang Island, Macon Blair’s heartbroken Bill drags his brother John and their friend Travis to the Gulf Coast of Texas barrier island to win back his ex-girlfriend Molly. They end up breaking into and staying at waterfront stilt house that belongs to Molly’s parents. Bill’s search for Molly, though, unexpectedly leads him to Lee, a waitress played by Lee Eddy whose interest in Bill is bound to complicate his love life. Mustang Island costars John Merriman as Bill’s brother John and Jason Newman as Bill and Jon’s friend. Travis. Married couple Macon Blair and Lee Eddy recently starred together in the Austin Film Festival family fantasy adventure Into the Who Knows! Lee Eddy also appeared in Macon Blair’s directorial debut I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore, which won this year’s Sundance Film Festival for the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize. Lee Eddy also is a Rooster Teeth regular, contributing her voice to Red vs. Blue and Camp Camp and costarring in the post-apocalyptic web series Day 5 as Lex. Macon Blair also starred in Jeremy Saulnier’s Blue Ruin and Green Room and appeared in this year’s Gold, Logan Lucky and The Florida Project. The Austin-based Craig Elrod previously directed The Man from Orlando, which also featured his Mustang Island cast members Macon Blair, Lee Eddy, Jason Newman, John Merriman and Byron Brown. Mustang Island will screen 7:30 p.m., 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Violet Crown Cinema. Writer/director Craig Elrod will attend the three VCC screenings; Macon Blair and Lee Eddy also are scheduled to attend the 7:30 p.m. screening.
