"Bleed for This"
Written and directed by Ben Younger, the fact-based sports drama Bleed for This chronicles the rise and fall and rise of boxer Vinny Pazienza a.k.a. Vinny Paz. Miles Teller stars as Rhode Island’s favorite son, who compiled a 50-10 record during a boxing career that began in 1983 and ended in 2004. In 1991, after winning the junior middleweight world title, Pazienza suffered a severe spinal injury that threatened to end his career. Bleed for This follows Pazienza’s fight to overcome his injury and return to the boxing ring. Bleed for This also stars Aaron Eckhart as Pazienza’s trainer Kevin Rooney and Ciarán Hinds and Katey Sagal as Pazienza’s parents. Bleed for This represents writer/director Ben Younger’s first film since 2005’s Prime. He made his directorial debut with 2000’s Boiler Room, which starred Vin Diesel and Ben Affleck.
