"Bingo Hell"
If bingo is your grandparents’ game, tell them to steer clear of Mr. Big. Because the big prize money offered by the devilishly charming bingo hall owner offers comes with a bigger catch. In director Gigi Saul Guerrero’s horror comedy Bingo Hell, Mr. Big arrives at Oak Springs to open a new bingo hall in the low-income community that is in the throes of gentrification. Mr. Big’s showmanship and outsized cash prizes naturally arouses the suspicions of Oak Springs’ most vocal community activist, Lupita. But with money hard to come by in Oak Springs, Lupita faces an uphill battle persuading her fellow senior citizens to stay out of Mr. Big’s flashy new bingo hall. Bingo Hellstars Oscar nominee Adriana Barraza as Lupita and Richard Brake as Mr. Big. Bingo Hell, which premiered locally during this year’s Fantastic Fest, is now available to stream on Prime Video as part of the Welcome To The Blumhouse series of chillers. Bingo Hell represents Gigi Saul Guerrero’s latest collaboration with Blumhouse. She made her feature debut with Culture Shock, which streamed on Hulu as part of Blumhouse’s Into the Dark series, and directed episodes of The PurgeTV series for Blumhouse. She also directed the 2015 Fantastic Fest selection El Gigante, contributed to The ABCs of Death 2.5, and created the TV horror series La Quinceañera, which were all written with or by Shane McKenzie.
