Interview:
David Blue Garcia,
director,
"Texas Chainsaw Massacre"
Directed by the Austin-based David Blue Garcia, the legacy sequel Texas Chainsaw Massacre picks up almost 50 years after Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which is now streaming on Netflix, stars Sarah Yarkin, Elsie Fisher, and Jacob Latimore as the young Texas entrepreneurs who make the mistake of buying with the intent to develop the small West Texas town that Leatherface has quietly called home since the events of the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Forced into the open for the time in almost five decades, the 70-year-old Leatherface dons a new skin mask and revs up his trusty weapon of choice to seek revenge against those inadvertently responsible for the death of a loved one. The cast also includes Mark Burnham as Leatherface and Olwen Fouéré as the recast Sally Hardesty, the sole survivor of Hooper’s original and now a retired Texas Ranger out to kill Leatherface. The Austin-based David Blue Garcia previously directed the thriller Tejano. He replaced the original directors of Texas Chainsaw Massacre a week into the Bulgaria-based production, which counts Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe director Fede Álvarez among its producers.
