Interview:
Brandon Dickerson,
writer/director,
"Amanda and Jack Go Glamping"
Love yurts in writer/director Brandon Dickerson’s Austin-shot romcom Amanda and Jack Go Glamping. California married couple Amanda (he Gifted’s Amy Acker) and Jack (Scream’s David Arquette) take a well-deserved break from being parents to spend some alone time together at the Green Acres glamping resort in Elgin. While Amanda can’t wait have some fun and relaxation in the Texas Hill Country hidden locale, Jack is far from at one fun with Mother Nature. He’s also preoccupied with his status as a once-promising novelist whose latest work was published without much fanfare or notice. Jack also feels threatened by Nate (Designated Survivor’s Adan Canto as Nate), the hunky and sensitive Green Acres owner/operator who has his eye on Amanda. Amanda and Jack Go Glamping costars newcomer Chris Carpenter as Ben and Nebraska’s June Squibb as Jude, two locals who provide Jack with much-needed help and perspective when his marriage starts to fall apart. Writer/director Brandon Dickerson filmed Amanda and Jack Go Glamping at Green Acres, which he owned during the course of shooting. Dickerson, a former Austinite who now lives in Fredericksburg, previously directed Amy Acker in the music drama Sironia and also directed the period drama Victor and the documentary A Single Frame. Amanda and Jack Go Glamping, which premiered locally during this year’s Austin Film Festival, is now available for VOD viewing and will screen 6:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Nov 13 at the Drafthouse Mueller with writer/director Brandon Dickerson in attendance for post-screening Q&As.
