The Hill Country Film Festival
The Hill Country Film Festival runs April 28-May 1 in Fredericksburg. The lineup includes three films with Austin ties: Greg Kwedar’s thriller Transpecos and Keith Maitland’s documentaries Tower and A Song for You: The Austin City Limits Story. Other narrative features include Bear With Us, Cut to the Chase, Dependent’s Day, Interwoven, Mad, Some Beasts, and Stereotypically You. Other documentaries include Daylight Comes, Nathan East: For the Record, and Rwanda & Juliet. There also will be short films, student films and special screenings of Peter Bogdanovich’s The Last Picture Show and the Guillermo del Toro-produced animated comedy The Book of Life. Chad Mathews, an Austin resident, serves as the executive director of the Hill Country Film Festival and is one of its founders.
