Directed by former Austinite Kelcey Edwards, the documentary The At of Making It examines the obstacles emerging artists face in their bid to get their work seen and sold. The documentary focuses on the role art schools, gallery owners, buyers and sellers, museum curators, and critics play in helping or hindering an artist's success. Edward spotlights the struggles endured by such artists as Flipe Baeza, Jenna Gribbon, Gisela McDaniel, and Chris Watts. The Art of Making It will screen during the SXSW Film Festival at 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday, March 11 at the Violet Crown Cinema, 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 16 at ZACH Theatre, and 3 p.m. Saturday, March 19 at the AFS Cinema. The Art of Making It is also available for SXSW Film Festival registrants to stream online for 48 hours beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 12. Kelcey Edwards makes her directorial debut with The Art of Making It. She previously produced Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines and co-produced Words of Witness.
