2018 Texas Film Awards
![]() Presented by the Austin Film Society, the 2018 Texas Film Awards will be held at 7 p.m. March 8 at the AFS Cinema. The Austin Film Society will honor There Will Be Blood writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson with the inaugural Jonathan Demme Award and Call Me By Your Name costar Armie Hammer with Variety's One to Acclaim Award. There Will Be Blood will receive a Texas Film Awards screening on March 3 at the AFS Cinema. In addition, the AFS Cinema will host a screening of the 2013 Star of Texas Award winner Dazed & Confused, to launch its first house beer Hazed & Confused, with writer/director Richard Linklater in attendance to introduce his 1993 classic. The AFS Cinema, which will serve as a SXSW Film Festival satellite venue, will present the series SXSW @ 25 beginning March 2 with 45365 and continuing with Audience of One, Attack the Block, Weekend, Sun Don’t Shine, and Marwencol. The Austin Film Society also will devote an Artist Spotlight seres to SXSW featured speaker Olivier Assayas, with the French director in attendance for the March 9 screenings of Something in the Air and Cold Water and the March 11 screening of Paris Awakens.
